ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
Maweni is a trail runners’ paradise boasting a huge variety of single track that will satisfy every type of runner or walker. This event is a great opportunity to experience something more the wild side of life, and its located just a stone throw from Pietermaritzburg.
The 7km course has been designed to be quite easy. It’s for those who prefer shorter distances or who are just starting out. There are no major tricky sections and incorporates some fantastic single track through the nature reserve to finish the race.
The 14km is more of a challenge and routes over a fairly tough climb. The downhill trail along the cliff tops looking into the Umngeni Valley is incredibly beautiful. This course always gets rave reviews across the finish line!
Entry fee includes R10 donation to the community trust.

DIRECTIONS:
Maweni is located 20kms outside PMB towards Table Mountain.
From Durban side: Travelling North on the N3, take the Ohrtmann Road off-ramp in Pietermaritzburg and turn right. Go over the highway and straight through the next set of robots, then turn right into Manning Avenue at the 2nd set of robots. Cross the Baynespruit stream and go straight through the first set of robot and then turn left at the 2nd set at the Shell Garage. Travel up the hill for +- 2 kms and turn right onto the Table Mountain Rd. The turn is sign posted: Table Mountain. Travel straight on this road for about 4kms and turn left onto the D319. Stay on the D319 following the signposts, keeping left where the road splits, for 5kms to Maweni.
From Hilton side: Travelling South take the Church Street off-ramp in Pietermaritzburg and turn left. Go straight through the first twosets of robots and turn right at the third set towards Greytown. Then at the next set of robots, before crossing the Baynespruit stream, turn right into Ohrtmann Rd. Go straight until the 1st set of robots and turn left into Manning Avenue. Cross the Baynespruit stream and go straight through the first set of robot and then turn left at the 2nd set at the Shell Garage. Travel up the hill for +- 2 kilometres and turn right onto the Table Mountain Rd. The turn is sign posted: Table Mountain. Travel straight on this road for about 4kms and turn left onto the D319. Stay on the D319 following the signposts, keeping left where the road splits, for 5kms to Maweni.
